Emilio Suarez

Emilio Suarez is a Calgary born musician currently studying Jazz Music at Capilano University. His main instruments are the double bass and electric bass. His other talents include guitar, piano, and cello.

Emilio is a Calgary born musician and composer. His love for music brought him to Vancouver in 2015. He completed his studies and was awarded his bachelor of music in Jazz Studies at Capilano University in 2020.

In Calgary Emilio studied double bass with Rubim DeToledo, Head of faculty of Grant Macewen Jazz Department, and Classical bass with Sheila Garrett, Assistant principle bass chair of the Calgary Philharmonic. Since then he has gone to study with Cody Hutchinson, John Day, and Vancouver's own Darren Radtke, Andre Lechance, and Jodi Proznick.

Emilio's style is a dynamic range from jazz and bebop to contemporary, classical, and pop. He has been featured on many recordings that cross all these genres. His latest work is featured in recordings with Vancouver artists KAIS, 45th Avenue Jazz Band, Ilhan Saferali, Noriko Jazz, and EITHER EITHER.
